Jazz Lovers

Well, I realized just how much I love jazz today!!!
I have just listened to Melody Gardot and Ray Charles.  I must say, they are amazing, I love their music, beautiful!!!

Her story is very interesting and inspirational:

March 8, 2008 - Four years after a serious car accident, Melody Gardot used the experience as a springboard to musical success she might never have achieved otherwise.
The singer, now 23, was hit by an SUV while riding her bicycle. Her injuries were serious and left her unable to sit up for more than 10 minutes. She suffered short-term memory loss and acute sensitivity to light and sound.
Gardot had played the piano before the accident, and a doctor suggested that she use music as a kind of recovery therapy. Since she couldn't sit comfortably at the piano, she picked up a guitar. Now, she's a professional musician, and her debut full-length album is called Worrisome Heart.
Scott Simon spoke with Gardot from the studios of WHYY in Philadelphia. She says that, prior to the accident, she was more interested in visual art than music. But once she started music therapy, the focus of her music-making changed rapidly.
Worrisome Heart is filled with sultry, jazz-inflected ballads. Though she lacked training in jazz, Gardot says she picked up the idiom intuitively. She credits her backing musicians for buoying her along the way.
"My way of explaining things is in an art form," Gardot says. "So I'm like, you know, 'Go to the next frame.' And they're like, 'You mean the next bar?' I'm like, 'Yeah, the next bar.'"
Since the accident, Gardot has struggled with short-term memory loss, which forces her to write and record compositions before she forgets them. Furthermore, her heightened sensitivity to light and sound — which, despite hearing devices and sunglasses — makes performing somewhat difficult. But she says she still finds it enjoyable.
"To be honest with you, being on stage and performing is the 30, 40, 50 minutes of the most pleasurable experience that I have," Gardot says. "Because it's during that time that I don't really feel any pain. I think it's transcendental, and I also think it's kind of like when you have a headache, and someone punches you in the stomach, you forget all about your head."
She hasn't forgotten about her good fortune, though.
"I'm not one to wake up in the morning and forget that," Gardot says. "I forget a lot of things, but I don't forget that."

Ray Charles has beautiful music that just about everyone knows!!!  Such as, Hit The Road Jack and Georgia On My Mind (which is a very pretty song). He was a blind man and he was born September 23, 1930 and he died June 10, 2004, may he rest in peace.

I have also just listened to Dave Grusin, who is classified under Jazz, but I think he is more classical.  His music is very good though.  If you like classical jazz, then you should definitely look him up!

I have just listened to Cab Calloway who plays original jazz!  The early jazz!  There is a lot of sax and trumpet in his music, I love it!!!  He was born December 25, 1907 and he died November 18, 1994, may he rest in peace.  You should definitely listen to his music.

Another person is Diana Krall!  She sings a lot of jazz, but not just jazz.  She has an old taste in music, which I like.  She has a very pretty voice, but not honey sweet.  She is very talented, and I think that you should listen to her!!!

I hope you enjoy these jazz musicians!  And if you know of any more, could you please tell me!?!?!?  Thank you very much!

Lily Allen, quitting the music business

This is a speechless topic!

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!! Noooooo, She can't quit!  She said that she might not make another album, because she doubts her career in music.
This is what she said in an interview- "I couldn’t tell you if I’m going to make another record, because I don’t know if I’m going to enjoy this in six months’ time. I’m a ‘live the day’ person. I have no idea what I’m doing tomorrow. I certainly don’t think about a week from now or a month from now. As far as the future goes, there’s only a vague plan of getting married and having kid. I am not actively hunting for a husband. Much."
I realllly hope that she doesn't take a permanent break from the music industry, I love her!!! <3

~ As you can tell, this is a speechless topic, because I don't really have much to say about it, except "Noooo!".~

Bullfighting in Spain

This is a speechless topic.... even though I say many things.... But when I saw the pictures it was too sad for words.

Bullfighting is a horrible thing, I don't see why anyone would like to see this.

It's very abusive and very undignified for the bulls.  But there IS good news!!!  Spain is having a vote on whether or not to KEEP bullfighting or to eliminate it, and from what I've read less than 30% want to KEEP bullfighting, HALLELUJAH!!! So hopefully when the vote is in, bulls will no longer be exploited for the enjoyment of others in at least one country, it's a start :)  The decision to have a vote on this was because of what happened at a recent "show", the bull was bleeding horribly because of something that they put in it's skin and it decided to fight back.  Yay, for the bull. :) (PICTURES)  and also because of what Spaniards are doing to oppose it.

And now, what protesters have been doing, thank you protesters.

Well this is my FIRST post, be proud!!!

This is non-speechless AND speechless

Well I'm not sure if you heard, but Paul McCartney died....... in 1966.....  Really?   I find this hard to believe...  My friend was trying to convince me.

This was her argument, "Well on the Srgt. Peppers cover there are a whole bunch of people that are either dead or have had a near death experience.  Also at a certain angle the yellow flowers say 'hear lies Paul McCartney'.  And the little creepy doll has a glove like London taxi drivers and it's bloody! And there's this song that when you play it backwards it is the sound of a car crash.  AND isn't it weird how all of the Beatles members wrote a song of loosing someone close to them, EXCEPT for Paul?  Also, he has a brother that looks JUST like him....."

She just kept going on and on!  There are so many things that you could say to this, but I didn't even respond to it, because of how stupid this is.  I'll just let her believe what she wants. *rolls eyes*  goodness girl.
